Looking for a budget friendly bathroom makeover? This post is all about how to do a bathroom makeover on a budget!
I renovate bathrooms for a living, so I know just how expensive these projects can get. In this post, I want to give you some realistic inspiration for your next project. This bathroom in my home, and therefore I performed much of the work myself. This means most of my costs where from materials and supplies to build the bathroom.
Budget bathroom makeover
If you have been following me for a while you know I purchased my first home a few years back and ever since, I rolled up my sleeves and took on fixing up the entire house. We have done everything from wall removal to window replacement, and beyond. The time has finally come to create a master bath we can finally enjoy after all our hard work.
For this awesome project, I teamed up with The Home Depot and Marazzi tile to show you all from a professional’s perspective how to install tile to last and how choosing the right tile can add value to your home. If you are a DIY’er, contractor, or just a homeowner looking to have your bathroom re-done, this video will show you what to look for to make sure it’s being done properly!
Porcelain tile has many benefits including; non-porous, smooth and resilient surface, unmatched design versatility, etc. Pair all those benefits with the new Marazzi EpiClean Antimicrobial line which has all those listed benefits AND has built in antimicrobial product protection.
This is perfect for high traffic areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, mudrooms, etc. because it eliminates up to 99% of surface bacteria to fight against stain and odor causing bacteria that can grow on floors. Check out the progress below 🙂
My mood board for this project:
** the towel shiplap wall has changed from white to black !!!*
Bathroom makeover
Below is what you saw when walking into the bathroom. I hated this. Its so cramped and crowded. I decided to remove the toilet patrician wall, and remove the floor to ceiling cabinets behind the vanity. (this is where my new towel wall will go). I also thought it would be nice to reduce the bump out (blue arrows) to even more open up the space and make it more visually appealing.
I also opted to remove the fur downs from above the vanity. ( aka wasted space) I never understood these.

I used the EpicClean Milton Arabescato Marble 12 in. x 24 in. Glazed Porcelain Floor and Wall tile from Home Depot laid in a straight pattern. Linked here.
The setting material (or thin set) I used was ProLite 30 lb. White Tile and Stone Mortar. Linked here.
Bathroom makeover: Shower tile
For the shower pan tile, we chose EpicClean Milton Arabescato Marble 12 in. x 12 in. Glazed Ceramic Mosaic Tile (1 sq. ft. / piece). Linked here. It is a perfect compliment for the main area floor tile and continues that modern, clean feel.
The shower walls were tiled withModern Renewal 12 in. x 24 in. Iron Glazed Porcelain Floor and Wall Tile (15.6 sq. ft. / case. Linked Here.
The 3×5 space was perfect for the vertical layout on a straight lay. The space doesn’t look like its former self.
Bathroom makeover: The reveal
We removed the old cabinets in front of the old vanity to open up space and added shiplap with hooks for towel hanging and basket storage. I am all about a minimal look with no clutter!
