Muted colors, clean lines, and less grout joints are all the rage nowadays. But, without adding some character you can end up having your home look like a old hospital. Adding some modern patterns can fix that! It will give your home a unique feel without loosing the minimal vibe.
You can still have your muted tones, clean lines, and small grout joints with these cool patterns available today.
Modern Patterned Tile Floor
I installed this patio on a super modern home in Houston Texas. This home reminded me something out of a James Bond video game complete with the motorized fence and overhead lookout. I attached an example photo for reference. I didn’t take a photo of the clients home for privacy reasons so this is just an idea of what I was working with.
This pattern was a great way to add some character to the home and gave them a unique interesting entryway for their otherwise commercial looking home. The tiles where cut from 12*24 on a waterjet to create this custom pattern. The colors stayed in line with the exterior of the home. Staying within the color pallet kept the modern feel. If you are interested in learning about the install I linked the blog post here.
The finished product photo below shows you how the entryway looked when it was all complete. As you can see the house was very modern. This tile installation didn’t take away from the modern feel, instead it gave it character. The client chose to use the color pallet that complimented the colors found on the exterior of the home. Overall it was a great decision and I think adds an artistic feel to this modern oasis.
Modern Patterned Tile for bathrooms
Modern aesthetic doesn’t have to be boring and plain. You can jazz up your entire space by adding pattern feature’s on the floor and walls. Modern shouldn’t mean lacking character. As tiles get larder and larger, it seems the styles get more plain and muted with lack of character. It doesn’t have to be that way. You can definitely create a modern bathroom by adding a funky patterned tile without compromising your modern aesthetic.
You can choose a pattern like the cross pattern mosaic. This comes in just about any color you can imagine and adds some character to a plain design. I always love mixing modern with vintage and this tile will definitely do that for you.
Here is a real life version of the cross tile with some modern finishes. Clean lines and modern appeal with a touch of the classics. I love it!
My absolute FAVORITE mosaic to pair with a modern, minimalist space is the “kit kat” tile. It is so unique and adds so much texture and character. See below.
Everything is so modern. Large panel tiles wrapped on all walls and a floating vanity with a touch of vintage with the tile and the rounded mirrors. This has to be my favorite pair for this kind of mosaic tile.
These where some of my absolute favorite modern patterned tiles that will go with just about any modern aesthetic. Most of them are keeping clean lines and have a touch of timelessness and simplicity.
This post was all about modern patterned tiles.
